We assess and attempt to reduce risk factors by removing potential barriers to success, taking into account the needs of the entire person. We look at not just the physical, but also the psychological and social components as well. This fundamental holistic approach involves great caring and cultural sensitivity through direct assistance, counseling, and education with an emphasis on prevention for mothers and their infants.

Priority Health Services, Inc., specializes in working with clients who may have risk factors present such as:

Missed prenatal or infant health care appointments due to things like lack of transportation

Do not have a health care provider for prenatal care or infant care

A history of or are currently experiencing depression, schizophrenia, or other mental illness

Under 18

Homeless or are living in an unsafe situation

Smoke cigarettes

A history of or current drug or alcohol use

Had a baby who was low birth weight or has other physical problems

Experienced in the past or are currently experiencing physical, sexual, or emotional abuse

Any other concerns regarding self or baby care

OUR PROGRAMS

We provide specialized and comprehensive in–home assistance to pregnant mothers and infants, from birth to age one, that are in high-risk situations. Pregnant clients can be referred at anytime during their pregnancy. Visits can continue up to 60 days post delivery. Infants can be seen from birth to one year of age. All clients in the program must be on Medicaid or MOMS.

We provide the MIHP in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties, including the City of Detroit. Clients can be self–referred or referred from a Doctor’s office, hospital, community–based agency, etc.

Our in–home team consists of Registered Nurses, Registered Dietitians, and Social Workers. This team will target and prioritize the family’s needs in order to achieve a healthy pregnancy outcome and decrease infant morbidity and mortality.
